The possible role of JC virus in determining urinary tract involvement has only recently been recognized. case a man with laboratory-confirmed replication the urine after maintenance schedule rituximab administered for lymphoproliferative disorder is reported herein. patient developed severe renal and impairment, characterized by onset nephropathy, bilateral ureteral strictures, serious reduction vesical compliance, ultimately requiring an ileal neobladder configuration. was finally attributed to reactivation. This observation suggests that diseases related might be associated long-term treatment.

Risk of tuberculosis reactivation with rituximab therapy

BACKGROUND Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world's deadliest diseases, and one-third of the world's population is infected with it. The link between antitumor necrosis factor therapy and reactivation of latent TB is well recognized. However, only limited studies have evaluated the risk of TB with rituximab, a B-cell-targeting therapeutic agent used recently for rheumatological diseases, primari...

Long-term follow-up of patients with neuromyelitis optica after repeated therapy with rituximab.

BACKGROUND Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is a severe autoimmune disease targeting optic nerves and spinal cord. The monoclonal anti-CD20 B-cell antibody rituximab is an emerging therapeutic option in NMO. However, neither long-term efficacy or safety of rituximab, nor the correlation between B-cell counts, B-cell fostering cytokines, aquaporin-4 antibodies (AQP4-ab), and disease activity in NMO, h...

Onset of secondary progressive MS after long‐term rituximab therapy – a case report

A patient with relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS) was treated with a standard immunomodulatory therapy, but due to ongoing disease activity was switched to rituximab. Relapses ceased, but secondary progressive MS (SPMS) eventually appeared, associated with new focal spinal cord white matter lesions. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) showed persistent oligoclonal bands (OCB) and clonally related B cells...
